About the IIHS Top Safety Pick+ Recipients

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, or IIHS, reviews numerous models in all classes for crash-test performance each year. It issues two different awards for the vehicles that excel in the tests. These are the Top Safety Pick and the more advanced Top Safety Pick+. To receive the latter recognition, a model must receive a good rating or better in six evaluations. It also must have an advanced rating or better on vehicle-to-pedestrian and vehicle-to-vehicle tests. In addition, the headlights must pass with a rating of acceptable or good across all of the model's trims.
